The Lodge at Deadwood
New Hotel & Casino | Deadwood, SD
West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services for The Lodge and Casino at Deadwood, South Dakota.
The resort consists of 140 luxury guestrooms and suites, a restaurant and casual lounge, a Las Vegas-style casino, a 24-hour indoor fitness center, Deadwood’s only indoor water park and a convention facility. The hotel suites have a microwave, refrigerator, and all guestrooms have a desk and free high-speed internet service. Many of the suites also have private decks or patios to enjoy the view of the Black Hills. The casino has 300 gaming devices featuring poker, blackjack and slot machines. The 13,000 square foot convention facility will hold up to 1,700 people.
The electrical systems consisted of specialty lighting used throughout the casino, restaurant, lounge and convention facility. Underfloor duct raceways were used to get power and data cabling out to the gaming machines. Additionally, special systems included fire alarm, data/telephone, hotel TV systems, cable TV, security cameras and access controls.
“Our systems work very well. We’ve had no issues – it’s just excellent engineering.” – Mike Hess, Chief Engineer, The Lodge at Deadwood
