West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for the Siouxland Humane Society. This 11,600 square foot facility provides care and adoption of cats, dogs and other animals in the Sioux City, Iowa area. The facility includes offices, a meeting room and retail space, as well as cat and dog kennels. The adoption area is an important part of the facility, which also includes exam and grooming rooms and enclosed visitation areas designed as a courtyard in the center of the facility. West Plains used highly efficient equipment and energy recovery in the design to keep the facilities energy costs as low as possible
