West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services for the new Continue Care Compounding Pharmacy in Sioux City, IA. The pharmacy included an ISO Class 7 Clean Room for the preparation of sterile pharmaceuticals and intravenous drugs.

The HVAC system involves residential gas furnaces with fan powered HEPA filtration for the clean room. The clean room and ante room were designed to meet ISO Class 7, which requires them to be positive to the remainder of the facility with the clean room positive to the ante room. Balanced barometric relief dampers are used to monitor this pressure relationships.

The electrical system includes all data wiring. Rough-in requirements were coordinated for the security system. The design included Category 5e for voice and data wiring throughout the building. An extension to the existing fire alarm system and the security system was also provided in the design.
