Crook County School District
CCTV Security Camera System | Crook County, WY
The Crook County School District in Wyoming oversees schools and other facilities in three towns within Crook County – Sundance, Moorcroft, and Hulett. Across these three towns, there are seven campuses. The Administrative Offices for the School District are located in Sundance but are not co-located with any of the schools they oversee. The School District wanted a video surveillance system to ensure the safety and security of each of their facilities while also being able to monitor any one location from any of the other locations.
The project installed 152 cameras across the School District. Each of the seven campuses was provided with a stand-alone server and recording system to ensure local recording and observation at each site. A wide area network was established and all of the servers were tied together, by way of the Video Surveillance operating platform, to allow remote access from any location. The system also allowed specified staff access to any camera by way of password with their smartphone or other mobile devices. This allows the School District to monitor and react to any situation from any of their locations, allowing the Superintendent and Principals to make informed decisions regarding the safety of their students and staff.
The Video Surveillance platform was specified for future integration to access control systems such that the Video Surveillance system and Access Control systems can communicate alarms and other activity and provide a pro-active approach to helping staff and others to more quickly see what is or has happened for reduced reaction times.
