Infrastructure Improvements | Madison, SD

The Dakota State University Infrastructure Improvements project consisted of numerous upgrades on campus aimed to improve both operating efficiency and system reliability.

WPE was involved in the programming of these upgrades to determine the budget and also to assist the University in determining which upgrades would be incorporated within the budget. These upgrades occurred in several areas on the campus and were bid as separate packages to maximize construction efficiency. WPE also acted as the prime consultant for this project.

The projects included the replacement of an existing steam boiler burner in the main physical plant, upgrades to the elevators in Heston Hall and Mundt Library, replacing air handling units in Heston Hall, East Hall, and Mundt Library and replacement of the main switchgear in East Hall, Beadle Hall, Physical Plant, Heston Hall and Mundt Library.

The project was bid in multiple phases to take advantage of timing and get the work done during off-peak times for the buildings, as well as to allow for competitive bidding for the different types of work required to be completed.
