Complex Office & Maintenance Shop Addition | Deadwood, SD
West Plains Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design services for the addition of new office and shop areas for the Deadwood, South Dakota DOT shop.
The mechanical system included space temperature conditioning, ventilation, domestic water, and sanitary services, including trench drains and sand/oil interceptor.
The heating of the garage area was accomplished using a modulating gas-fired radiant heat system. Ventilation was by means of continuous and intermittent exhaust and make-up air controlled by a gas detection system that monitored CO, CO2, NO2, and humidity. The office space is conditioned using a VRV system with three air coils.
New electrical systems included power distribution, voice/ data (rough-in), interior lighting, exterior lighting, and fire alarm system. The shop area is provided with cord reels and convenience receptacles. The shop lighting is high bay T8 fluorescent type with lenses and office lighting is T-8 fluorescent. The power distribution system was reworked to provide a manual transfer switch for portable emergency generator connection.
