Electrical Distribution Updates | Vermillion, SD

The Power Division for West Plains Engineering is currently working with the University of South Dakota in Vermillion on a review and upgrade of the campus’ electrical distribution.

Initially, our scope of work involved performing a review of the distribution feeds and equipment serving the campus. Upon its completion, we continued to provide assistance with developing the scope of work for the replacement or upgrade of all medium voltage equipment within the system.

Currently, we are working to reconfigure the East Substation Feeder. All three reclosers are to be retired and replaced with a single Vista switch, which will be installed east of the substation fence and take a source feed from the old 422 recloser location. It will also have a bay dedicated to a future DakotaDome substation tie.
